Sleeping Time

*snore* Sunflower seed...zzzzz *snore*

What can I say, my hamsters sleep all the time and anywhere. I saw them sleeping on the wheel, fall down from it and can remain sleeping. 

Sleeping like a boss...

I love watching them sleep, they will move their little paws and feet as if they are dreaming or something. Do hamsters dream? I wonder. But gosh, I want to touch their paws.

There's food beside him while he sleep and it seems like he was hugging it when he rolled over.

Hamster Hammock

Lol, we decided to make a hammock for the hamster after reading it somewhere. It was easy to make one as we used one of my sis old cloth to make it. We put filling in it to make it soft and then sew it.

However, our hammy did not know how to use it. Maybe because it is too small for them or maybe too high up for them. They treat it as a chew toy.

Cage Getting Smaller

Just 21 days and our hammy became so big. They used to be so small but now, the cage looks too small for them to live in. We wanted to buy a bigger cage for them but it was just too expensive. We tried putting them in play pan some time so they can run around freely.

One of our ex-housemate used to have hamsters and he bought a lot of hamster cage. So we asked him for one. We just hope that he will be able to find back his old hamster cage and spare us one. Cookie and Cupcake really need more space.

Cookie The Alpha Hammy

Cookie: It's getting crowded in here.

We always know that Cookie was the smart one and somehow, Cookie managed to boss Cupcake around. We did not know the sex of Cookie yet because we were unable to identify it. We knew Cupcake is a male since we saw his *ahem* but Cookie, it was hard to pin point it.

Anyway, Cookie loves to bother Cupcake. Whenever Cupcake is asleep, Cookie will walk all over him, literally. When Cupcake is eating his meal, Cookie will steal it. When Cupcake is playing the wheel, Cookie will push him down.

And Cupcake will endure it all like a good hammy he is. I feel sad for Cupcake and we tried to help him anytime necessary like giving him another sunflower seed when it was stolen from him.

Whenever they play the wheel together, Cupcake will always be behind Cookie. Cookie hind legs will step and run on top of Cupcake face and somehow, Cupcake is just cool with that.

Cookie: Ah-ha! Eat my dust!

Cupcake: Psst *cough* Did you just pee on me? T_T

If somehow we find out that Cookie is a female, we will laugh our ass off. It will be like the wife bossing the husband around.

Sand Bath

Somehow, we realized that Cookie was the smart one while Cupcake was the slow learner. Cookie learnt how to play the wheel first, how to use the sand bath and how to brake when playing the hamster ball.

Cupcake have to take some time to learn all these and one of the cutest and memorable moments of Cupcake learning was the sand bath. It took quite a long time for them to master the art of sand bathing because their furs were getting greasy. Cookie was the first one to be able to use it. However, Cupcake being a slow learner was not able to pick up on it yet.

We were urging Cupcake to try the sand bath since his fur was so greasy and oily compared to Cookie. Finally, Cupcake got into the sand bath but did not know how to utilize it.

Cupcake: What now?

My sis grabbed Cookie from the ground floor and put it into another sand bath. We kept saying "Come on Cookie, show Cupcake how to use the sandbath."

Cookie: That's not how you do it!

We knew that Cookie wouldn't understand what we said but somehow, Cookie was using the sand bath and showing it to Cupcake. Cupcake sat on his sand bath and watch how Cookie tumble around in the sand and then he tried doing it but fail. He was scared of lying flat on the sand somehow so he stopped.

It seems that Cookie got frustrated and decided to go over to Cupcake and push him down. Cookie was literally pinning him down with his/her little paws. It was so cute. After pinning Cupcake down, Cookie got back to his/her own sand bath and showed him again how to use the sand bath by rolling in it.

Finally, Cupcake managed to roll and tumble around in the sand bath. It was amazing seeing how Cookie taught Cupcake how to use the sand bath. 

Girl-girl and Boy-boy

Before naming them, my sis used to call them Girl-girl and Boy-boy which is definitely not a name that we liked but was stuck on it. We always thought that the small one was a girl while the big one was a boy since the big one tried to hump the small one.

Cupcake: What? Where? Who's that? 

However, it turns out that what my sister has been calling Girl-girl for the past few days was actually a male roborovski. That's why Cookie and Cupcake was a more appropriate name for them.

Cookie and Cupcake

Naming them was tough. Well for me that is because I wanted to name them after some anime characters like Sesshomaru and Itachi but I know my sis would not agree with it. So I suggested some cutesy name like Cookie, Biscuit, Ginger and anything you can think of which is cute and dessert-like?

My sis however wanted Cookie and Cupcake because she loves Cupcake. And so, it was decided that the big one shall be named Cookie and the small one will be named Cupcake.

Hello Cookie and Cupcake

Our mother was strict on us not having any pets and somehow, my sis managed to convince my aunt to buy her hamster and buy she did. Two roborovski. We were scared that we can't handle them at first. 

My aunt asked someone to bring it for us and when he was setting up the cages, I got a first glimpse on these two little thing. They were scurrying and hiding under the cardboard flap. All i can think of was to be able to look at them and play with them.

However, they are roborovski and it is hard to hold them and gaining their trust. And so, this journey begin on 14 of August 2011.
